Neil Breed, Community Outreach Coordinator for Huff Funeral Home in East Bend, announced recently that the funeral home will sponsor the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program to help needy children in Yadkin county this holiday season.
Last year the funeral home and many gracious Yadkin county citizens helped provide toys for over fifty children through the program. The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
“Bringing a smile to a needy child’s face this Christmas has never been easier,” said Joe Clay, general manager at Huff’s. “The whole staff and I are excited about helping with the program again this year,” Clay said.
“It was a great joy to see the sense of hope and appreciation from the families that we helped through the program last year,” said Apprentice Funeral Director Roy Riggins.
Joe Clay also said that people who donate to the program either monetary or toys will be entered to win one of 25 vacation packages valued at several hundred dollars.
