CARY - Four Falcons turned in strong performances at the 1A/2A North Carolina High School Athletic Association Swimming State Championships in Cary earlier this month.
Noah Medwin, Bryan Winters and Mason Doub all placed in the top 16 of their respective individual events, while the Forbush relay team turned in two top-14 showings at the Triangle Aquatic Center.
Medwin powered his way to a sixth-place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.68, finishing less than a second off the pace. The sophomore added an eighth-place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 56.30.
Winters touched the wall in 16th place in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.40.
Doub rounded out the individual events with a 12th-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 58.26.
The relay team of Medwin, Winters, Doub and Tate Williams (with Sam Trivette as the alternate) swam to a 12th-place finish in the 200 yard medley with a time of 1:49.36.
The team added a 14th-place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay, finishing in 3:37.17. Both races smashed school records.
With the individual and relay performances, the Falcons finished 17th in the final team standings with 46 points.
