•The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office will hold a Community Crime Prevention meeting at Lone Hickory Volunteer Fire Department. This will be part of a series of crime prevention meetings to be held at each fire department throughout the county. Residents in the Lone Hickory community are encouraged to attend this meeting to make them more aware of crime prevention efforts in Yadkin County. Sheriff Ricky Oliver and crime prevention officers will be present to discuss some of the issues in the community and the crime prevention programs available.
Saturday, March 30
•3 p.m.-The Yadkin Valley Cruisers will meet around the Court House Square. We are a non-profit organization that raises money to help those in need in our county. There will be a raffle for a nice gas grill designed like a motor, $500 cash, cake walks, corn hole, auction, etc. Music will be provided by Stan Bobbit. We always have many flavors of home made ice cream. Come out enjoy and support our special fund raiser.

•6:30 p.m.-The Forsyth County Genealogical Society will meet in the auditorium of the Forsyth County Library’s Central Branch at 660 West 5th St. in Winston-Salem. The program is free and open to the public. Dr. Nelson A. L. Weller, past president of the Society, will make a presentation entitled “To Publish or Not to Publish - What to do When You Finish Your Genealogy.”

•7 a.m.-10 a.m.-Relay for Life Country Breakfast at Pilot View Friends Church on Pilot View Church Road, Yadkinville.
•1:30 p.m.-5 p.m.-There will be an East Coast ATV Extreme Dirt Track races for all ages. The races will be held at Stanley Farm Track on Baity Road near Courtney Elementary School. This race is to be sponsored by Yadkin Christian Ministries and all proceeds will go to benefit food and provisions for those in need. Hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and drinks will be for sale. This event will be enjoyed by all.

•4p.m.-6:30p.m.-Smart Start of Yadkin County is sponsoring a Port-A-Pit dinner to raise funds for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program to be started in Yadkin County. For every $25.00 raised, this program will place one developmentally appropriate book per month in the home of a child for one year. A flyer is attached with additional information. Chicken Plates,$ 9.00, Rib Plates, $12.00. Plates can be picked up at the Yadkinville United Methodist Church. •7 a.m. – 12 p.m. - The Yadkin County Historical Society will sponsor its first yard sale at the Yadkin County Senior Center located at 207 East Hemlock Street in Yadkinville. A $4 bag sale will begin at Noon. The Society will accept donations on March 30, April 6 and April 13 from 9 a.m. to Noon at Security Storage located at 202 North Monroe Street in Yadkinville, beside Yadkinville Elementary School. •5 p.m.-7 p.m.-Author, Shannon Hitchcock will be coming to the East Bend Public Library to speak with us about, The Ballad of Jessie Pearl, a novel set in East Bend. This visit will provide a wonderful opportunity to bring an autographed book home! •“PUBLIC NOTICE: The Yadkin County Health Department Clinic has a new name and location. The new name is Yadkin County Medical Clinic, part of the newly formed Yadkin County Human Services Agency. The new location is 638 West Main Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055, with in Yadkin Valley Community Hospital. The new location will open APRIL 1st 2013. •The Internal Revenue Service sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs. The mission of these programs is to provide free basic tax return preparation for low to moderate income and elderly taxpayers. This also includes taxpayers with disabilities, limited English proficiency and the Military. • 10:30 a.m.—Preschool storytime for ages 2-5 will be held at the Boonville Community Public Library every Thursday. This will consist of stories, songs, and crafts.
