Yadkin County will soon be home to two new, freestanding Family Dollar stores.
The discount retailer has a location under construction in Yadkinville and now has plans to build in Boonville.
The Yadkinville location is located on South State Street directly across the street from Food Lion.
According to Bryn R. Winburn, Public Relations Manager for Family Dollar, the new store will be a relocation for the current store located in the Yadkin Plaza Shopping Center.
Winburn said the new store has 8,300 square feet and scheduled to open this spring. More details are expected in early May.
According to Bobby Todd, Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce Director, the current Family Dollar location will be up for sale and several chain businesses are looking into the property.
Winburn said that the company could not confirm the new Boonville location.
However, Greater Boonville Business Association member Bonnie Lasky announced at the organizations April 4 meeting that the property that Family Dollar is under contract for land that currently houses an auction facility, a consignment shop, an art gallery and an antique variety store.
Lasky said that representatives within the company have told Boonville officials that they are 99.9 percent confident that they will build the store in this location. The existing businesses will move to other locations.
Family Dollar is Fortune 300 Company that has been in the business of selling a variety of food and home products and apparel. The company has been in business for 50 years and has over 7,000 locations in 44 states.
