Every Picture Tells a Story: Oils and pastels by Cheryl Powell and Arlene Daniel
Figurative works, landscapes and cityscapes are the subject matter for Cheryl and Arlene’s exquisite oil and pastel paintings.
These two Triad-area artists have exhibited in numerous shows and galleries in the Piedmont. The influence of their mentor, Susan Lyon, is evident in the graceful brush strokes of soft color and diffused light.
The public is invited to an opening reception on May 3 at 5:30 p.m.
Viewing hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Sunday.
The Yadkin Cultural Arts Center is located at 226 E. Main Street in Yadkinville.
The 193-seat state-of-the-art theater offers live music, drama, dance performances, community theater and children’s theater. The theater meets ADA requirements. It is equipped with assisted listening devices for the hearing impaired and special seating for people in wheelchairs.

When an old fashioned magician of the 1920s finds himself in a rivalry with a younger, successful magician, he discovers his potential for “real magic”. Will he be tempted to use his newfound power in their final showoff? Find out in the amazing spectacular, The Last Magic Show, a brand new play by Steven Kopp, written exclusively for Peppercorn Children’s Theatre’s 2013 Summer Season. Appropriate for ages 4-104.
June 15: David Holt with Will McIntyre. 7:30 p.m. $15. Singer/songwriter David Holt is considered a state treasure and has been award a Grammy. At this performance he is joined by Will McIntyre on bass.
Coming in July….Children’s theater production of the award-winning musical Honk Jr., directed by Vicky Town and performed by our community’s children. Watch for audition information on our website: www.yadkinarts.org.
Individual live performance tickets are available. Movie tickets are not sold online but may be purchased at the YARD Gift Shop on the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center Plaza and at the door.

Beginner’s Mosaics – Jody Pounds
Cost: $75 – all tools and supplies included
Learn the wonderful art of mosaics. This can be started at any time – I work with your schedule. You need to plan on 5 or 6 2-hour sessions, but it depends on the speed at which you work. When finished you will have a 12” x 12” mosaic you will be proud to call your own.
Age Limit: 18+ unless accompanied by an adult
