The Yadkin Farmers Market will open for the season on May 7 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the shelter on Tennessee Road in Yadkinville.
The market will also operate at the Tennessee Road shelter on Thursdays from 4 to 6:30 p.m., beginning May 9, and in the Yadkin Masonic Lodge parking lot on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, beginning May 11. The market will continue weekly on the same schedule through fall.
The Tuesday and Thursday market is located at 1141 Tennessee Road in Yadkinville. If traveling on 601 N, pass through downtown Yadkinville, and turn right at the Yadkinville Community Park on Tennessee Road. The market shelter is just ahead on the left behind the park. The Saturday market is located at 402 North State Street in Yadkinville. If traveling on 601 N, pass through downtown Yadkinville and the Masonic Lodge parking lot is just ahead on the right across from the Yadkinville Elementary School.
The market is open to farmers who reside in Yadkin and adjacent counties and allows no reselling of produce or other products. Local producers of fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, honey, baked goods, dairy products, plants and traditional farm crafts are invited to apply. Early in the season, the market will offer a variety of early spring vegetables, such as onions, lettuce, radishes, and greens, as well as, potted and cut flowers, nursery plants, fresh eggs, pottery, baked goods, and homemade soaps. The market will offer all of the favorite summer vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, corn, and melons, as the season progresses, as well as fruits like blueberries, blackberries, and muscadines.
There will also be jellies, juices, syrups and dressings made from local crops.
