•3 p.m.-5 p.m.-Again this year, there will be “Halloween Downtown”. The businesses will pass out treats to all the kids in our area. A costume contest will be held at The Willingham Theatre at the Arts Council. Cash and prizes will be given away and you must register by 4:45pm. A list of participating businesses and a map will be given to students at Yadkin County Schools or one of the volunteers the day of the event. This event is sponsored by The Town of Yadkinville, The Downtown Business Association, The Yadkin County Public Library and The Yadkin Arts Council.

• 7 p.m. Horror Movie Series - Halloween

FREE Willingham Theater. A psychotic murderer institutionalized since childhood for the murder of his sister, escapes and stalks a bookish teenage girl and her friends while his doctor chases him through the streets. Don’t miss the chance to see this 1970s classic on the big screen! Get here early and compete in our costume contest for a chance to win free tickets to see the Kruger Brothers in November!

•7 a.m.-10a.m.- Community Breakfast at Windsors Crossroads Community Building, Windsor Rd. Hamptonville. Money raised go toward to scholarships, helping our neighbors in need and up keep on the Windsor’s Crossroads Comminity Building. Please support our club. Sponsored by the Windsors Crossroads Ruritan Club.

•9 a.m.-2 p.m.-Fund Raiser Craft and Bake Sale at Yadkinville Elementary School multipurpose room. Please come and join us. If anyone that makes crafts would like to come and sell them at the fundraiser please give me a call at 336-468-8835 and leave a message.

•11 a.m.-3 p.m.-Asbury United Methodist Church is sponsoring a Pinto Bean Luncheon “rain or Shine” & a Cruise-In (supported by Yadkin Valley Cruisers) proceeds to help needy families at Christmas

•5 p.m.-8 p.m. Fall Festival at Courtney Elementary School. Mystery guest appearances, raffle, games, food, bounce house, haunted trail, silent auction and Halloween Costume Contest. Sponsored by CAB and PTA. Everyone is welcome.

NOVEMBER 2nd: Tri-county Ridge Runners of the National Wild Turkey Federation will present “Unsung Heroes Banquet” at the Clingman Community Center 3371 Clingman Rd., Ronda at 6pm. $20 per person includes meal, first 40 vets TO PREREGISTER will be admitted free for recognition. •It was concluded at the PART Board Finance Committee meeting on October 1, 2013, that the regularly scheduled Board meeting for October has been canceled, due to a lack of agenda items. We planned our work to coincide with the next month’s meeting. Please note that the meeting scheduled for November 13th will resume at its regular time and location.

•6:30 p.m.-The East Bend Ruritan Club will meet the 2nd Thursday night of each month at the East Bend Senior Citizens Building. Meeting is at 6:30 p.m. and meal is at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

•Are you interested in being an advocate for residents in long-term care facilities in Yadkin County? The Community Advisory Committee needs volunteers who are committed to quality care in all Nursing and Adult Care Homes in Yadkin County. The committee is made up of local citizens who serve as advocates as they visit the Yadkin County long-term care facilities with other members of the committee once every 3 months. •Filing for Town Elections will begin Friday, July 5, 2013 at 12:00 Noon and ends Friday, July 19, 2013 at 12:00 Noon. Yadkin County has four Municipalities: Boonville, East Bend, Jonesville and Yadkinville. Municipal Elections will be Non-Partisan. Filing Fee will be $5.00. Voter Registration Deadline is Friday, October 11, 2013. Town Elections will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

•Pickle-ball Still looking for folks interested in If you have played tennis and liked it then you will love pickle-ball. If you want to know what it is you can look it up on the internet. It is the rave in Florida. High Point has it going on too. We have a few folks looking for more players. Call the East Bend Senior Center @ 699-5100 if you’re interested.

•North Carolina Cost Share Funds

The Yadkin County Soil and Water Conservation District will be receiving its annual cost share allocation from the state for non-point source pollution from agriculture activities. These funds are available to assist farmers with the installation of conservation practices that help decrease the amount of sediment, nitrogen, phosphorus, chemicals, and other pollutants in the surface and ground waters of the state. Farm owners and operators may apply for cost share assistance to install conservation practices, and best management practices, such as poultry incinerators, poultry dry stacks, cattle watering systems, grassed waterways, etc. The deadline for applications is September 6th, 2013.

•Yadkinville Farmers Market, Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00-6:30 p.m. 1141 Tennessee Road Yadkinville, from 601 N, turn right at Yadkinville Community Park on Tennessee Rd. Market shelter is just ahead on the left, and Saturdays 8-12 at the same location. They will have a drawing to give away a basket the last Tuesday of each month.

•8 a.m.-12 p.m.-The Farmington Farmers Market opens May 11 and will be open every Saturday from 8am - noon. It is held at the Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Rd, Mocksville. It provides homegrown produce and goods. You will find seasonal produce, plants, honey & jams, fresh eggs, goat’s milk soaps & lotions, and fresh baked goodies. Two Sisters Specialty Meats, specializing in local hormone-free meats such as; beef, lamb, and pork and soon to provide goat and rabbit. Come on out and support our local growers. Vender space is still available for a small fee of $5.00, no annual fee required. Yadkin County Humane Society is looking for new members who would be interested in joining our organization. • 10:30 a.m.—Preschool storytime for ages 2-5 will be held at the Boonville Community Public Library every Thursday. This will consist of stories, songs, and crafts. •6 p.m.-Bingo every Tuesday at the Yadkin Moose Lodge. ATTENTION: Effectively immediately! Monthly distributions of USDA Commodity Foods will no longer be distributed at the Moose Lodge in Yadkinville. They will now be distributed on an on-going basis through “partner agencies” of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest N.C. In Home Aid Services, New Horizons Home Care, Inc. is pleased to announce that the in-home aide services in Yadkin County funded through the Home and Community Care Block Grant for older adults is now provided by our agency effective July 1, 2012.
