YADKINVILLE — The North Carolina Cooperative Extension - Yadkin County Center is holding the Yadkin Valley Agricultural Forum on Wednesday at the Union Cross Friends Family Center in Yadkinville.
The program is free, but advanced registration is required by Monday.
The program begins with registration at 8 a.m. and then the N.C. Highway Patrol will cover “Rules of the Road: Hauling Agricultural Products and Equipment.”
Troopers will provide a presentation and offer time for participants to ask questions.
Crop Production Services will follow with “Pesticide Update: Weed Control in Row Crops and Pastures.”
Hear about new products and other tips and techniques for weed control from Yadkin CPS staff. The program will feature Ted Feitshans, North Carolina State University extension specialist and professor, who will cover “Preparing for the Final January 2014 Tobacco Buyout Payment: Tax and Related Implications.”
Learn how the termination of these payments will affect farmers, their neighbors, and the community. Finally, the program will conclude with “Voluntary Agricultural Districts: Member Benefits and Program Updates” with Cooperative Extension staff. Learn the benefits available to farms by joining a VAD program.
Farm Service Agency staff also will make a brief presentation on programs it has available, and a representative from Backyard Bow Pro will be on hand to introduce its program and answer questions.
One hour of pesticide recertification credits is available in categories N, O, D, and X for this program.
The forum begins with registration at 8 a.m. and concludes at 12:30 p.m. The Union Cross Friends Family Center is located at 2533 Union Cross Church Road in Yadkinville.
