In 2013, Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care celebrated its 20th year of serving the community, and part of that celebration included kicking off a new annual fundraiser — 28 Days of Giving raffle.
For each of the 28 days in February, two winners will be drawn each day for prizes ranging from $100 cash, to Thirty-One totes, Adirondack chairs, a Keurig coffee maker, gift cards to numerous businesses and restaurants, golf packages, furniture, and even a taxidermy service.
Once a winner’s name is drawn, the ticket is put back in the pool for a chance at prizes throughout the month, so the luckiest ticket holders could win more than one prize in February.
Tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased at any of Mountain Valley Hospice’s seven offices, which serve 16 area counties. Offices are in Elkin at 688 N. Bridge St.; Yadkinville at 320 W. Maple St.; Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson; Pilot Mountain at 129 Veterans Drive; Mount Airy at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200; and in Hillsville and Stuart, Va.
According to Mountain Valley’s website, “Mountain Valley Hospice began serving the community as Hospice of Surry County, Inc. in December of 1983. In 2005 Hospice of Surry County, Inc. and Northern Hospice of Surry County merged and Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care was the new name chosen.”
The agency serves its patients and their families by providing nursing services, social work services, home health aides, chaplain services, volunteer support and palliative care.
