JONESVILLE — Students at Jonesville Elementary School wore pink on Tuesday to honor their classmate, Kira Bray, who was seriously injured in a car accident over the weekend.

An accident report was unavailable at press time, but Jonesville Principal Kelly Byrd-Johnson confirmed that the family was in an accident near Boiling Springs.

Kira, daughter of Joel and Sherry Bray, is in kindergarten at Jonesville Elementary. Her classmates also worked on a banner and wrote messages on hearts in her favorite colors, purple and pink.

Stephanie Holbrook, a friend of the family, has helped to organize a prayer vigil at Friendship Motor Speedway on Saturday. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the candlelight vigil will begin at dusk. Donations will be accepted for Joel and Sherry through a trust account at State Employees Credit Union.

Holbrook said that Joel, who races at Friendship, and Sherry are asking that the community continue to pray for Kira.
