WALNUT COVE — Forbush fell to South Stokes, 4-2, in baseball Friday night.
“Had 10 hits but very few in crucial situations,” Forbush Coach Denny Key said. “With the game on the line, our mental fielding mistakes put our pitchers in binds. We simply did not play very smart baseball.”
Barrett Hennings, who homered in the first inning, drove in both Forbush runs. Bryson Lee went 3-for-4; and Brett Fulk and Neil Hutchens each went 2-for-3 for the Falcons. Carson Fulp doubled.
Fulp and Brad Dzeskewicz pitched for the Falcons.
Forbush fell to 9-6 going into Tuesday night’s game at West Stokes. The Sauras improved to 6-9.
Thursday, April 17
Forbush 6, North Surry 0: In Mount Airy, Brett Fulk and Brad Dzeskewicz combined on a four-hitter as the Falcons won on the road.
“Solid pitching, but still walked too many,” Forbush Coach Denny Key said. “Backwards hitting approach again to start the game, but we made adjustments and bought in and began hitting in the fourth.”
Carson Fulp went 2-for-2; Mason Doub drove in two runs; and Bryson Lee went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Falcons at the plate. Nelson Valerio and Jared Williams also drove in a run.
Fulk went five innings, allowing two hits, walking six, and striking out five. Dzeskewicz went two winnings, allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out four.
North Surry fell to 7-9 with the loss.
