Amy and Ricky Meadows came to Elkin in 2012 to open Meadows Trade -N- Post and have since kept a store filled with hundreds of eclectic and useful items, they said.

“We have something for everyone,” said Amy Meadows. She said it has been their intention to serve a variety of folks, from the beginning at the store and trading post, offering something for all ages.

She said many of the items in the store are meant to be put to use. Some of them are new, some newer, some vintage and some antique.

In fact, Meadows said because the items are priced fair, sometimes, the merchandise gets low. That is when they restock by combing auctions, yard sales and estate sales to replenish supplies.

Some items include a motor bike, a hand tiller, kids lunch boxes and suitcases, an old antique steamer, stone crocks, glass bottles, old tins, books, coins, pocket knives, arrow heads, pressure cookers and antique watches.

The store has a large display of fishing rods, both new and old.

Several different name brands line the wall of the store. In one corner, are old wooden rods. Meadows said the old wooden fishing rods are a popular find with customers along with old fishing lures.

On Friday, an old Heddon lure lay in its case at the store beckoning to the next collector.

Other popular and usable items included helmets, a good supply of leather saddles and yard equipment.

In addition, 13-year-old daughter of the Meadows, Brianna, recently began selling her homemade floral hair accessories in the store. She displays them for customers on a table in the front.

The Meadows came from Boonville in 2012 to open Meadows Trading Company.
