More than 100 of ShaRee and Terry Parker’s family and friends helped them celebrate their 60th birthdays on April 29 at the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center in Yadkinville.
The staff of the Third Branch Café prepared and served a meal in the café and banquet rooms. Chocolate and vanilla cakes were served following the meal along with desserts made by ShaRee Parker consisting of various candies including fan favorite pina colada cream cheese mints, her famous chocolate covered cherries, sugar cookies, cupcakes, and chocolate dipped strawberries.
The facility was decorated with ShaRee’s favorite color — purple. The themes of the party were purple, 60, and western. Purple and gold balloon bouquets from Dish Garden Art made the party even more festive.
Following dinner, guests proceeded to the Willingham Theater for a slideshow presentation created by ShaRee that highlighted her and Terry’s life.
Entertainment was then provided by Carson Peters & Iron Mountain. Carson Peters, 13, started playing the fiddle at the age of 3. Carson has appeared on national TV on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Little Big Shots with Steve Harvey. On March 28, 2014, Carson was invited to play on the Grand Ole Opry stage with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. Carson and his bands have performed on numerous occasions on the Grand Ole Opry since then.
Other members of the band include Carson’s dad, Jamie Peters, on rhythm guitar, Eric Marshall on banjo, guitar, and vocals, Ben Marshall, 16, on bass and vocals, and Austin Tate, 17, on mandolin and vocals.
The band put on a performance in the state-of-the-art Willingham Theater with its awesome acoustics. The concert consisted of several traditional bluegrass songs including “Rocky Top” and “The Orange Blossom Special” and numerous gospel favorites. There was a lot of toe-tapping, clapping, and dancing going on. They performed an original song written by Carson entitled “Oak Creek.” They also performed several songs written by Eric Marshall including “Take a Chance and Love Someone.” Those attending said their a Capella songs were absolutely amazing.
The guests were given treat bags with candies made by ShaRee to enjoy on their way home.
Comments from the guests have been that the party was “perfect” and ShaRee and Terry are very happy that they could provide an evening of great food, fellowship, and entertainment that their guests will remember forever.
