Rebecca Alice Matthews and Jacob Marcus Herman were married on Oct. 22 at Summerfield Farms in Summerfield. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Julie Peeples. Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted by the bride’s parents at Summerfield Farms. On Friday evening, a rehearsal dinner was given by the mother of the groom at The Public, Greensboro.
The bride is the daughter of Mark and Melinda Matthews of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of Rebecca Borum of Greensboro and the late Marvin Borum and the late Virgil and Blanche Matthews of Smithtown. She is a graduate of Grimsley High School in Greensboro. She received a Bachelor of Science in interior design from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, and a Master of Arts in fashion design degree from Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia. The bride is employed as an interior designer with ID Collaborative in Greensboro.
The groom is the son of Mr. Rick Herman of Kolonia, Pohnpei, FSM and Mrs. Cynthia Herman of Conifer, Colorado. He is the grandson of the late Lyle and Dee Herman of Loveland, Colorado, and the late Ryburn and Cynthia Desplinter of Tampico, Illinois. He is a graduate of Platte Canyon High School in Bailey, Colorado. He received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Devry University, Denver, Colorado. Mr. Herman is employed as a captain for Republic Airlines.
The bride was attended by her friend, Kyle Mundy of Baltimore, Maryland, as maid of honor. The bridesmaid was Amanda Dingman Fonorow of Greensboro. The flower girl was Heather Jaynes of Greensboro.
The groom chose his brother, Lucas Herman of Redding, California, as his best man. Groomsman was Seth Pleskach of Washington, D.C. Oscar Matthews of Greensboro, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer.
Following a honeymoon to Scotland, the couple will reside in Greensboro.
