Area children will soon be returning to school and the YMCA is doing its part to ensure that they are prepared. As part of its annual Bright Beginnings program, the Yadkin Family YMCA is collecting donations of book bags and other school supplies.
Items needed include backpacks, binders, notebooks, loose-leaf notebook paper, pencils, crayons and makers. Volunteers also are needed.
On Aug. 13, the Yadkin YMCA will take 100 children from the county to shop for school supplies. Volunteers are needed to assist the children with their shopping.
Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. The event will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
For more information or to volunteer, contact Amanda Hurley at the Yadkin Family YMCA, 336-679-7962.
