ROCKFORD — The Rockford Preservation Society Inc. is hosting its 26th annual Candlelight Christmas the evenings of Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 in the historic village at the 1914 Rockford Methodist Church, and the public is cordially invited to attend.
Both nights’ musical programs begin at 7:30 p.m., and refreshments will be served. Admission is free.
Performing Thursday will be Dr. Gena Poovey, professor of music at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina, who will be accompanied by Adam Rudisill; Gene Anderson and Reel Shady; Wendy and Johnny Dearmin; Susie Cooper and Randy Candelaria, and the Surry Central High School Chorus, directed by Angie Smith.
Featured Friday will be Poovey and Rudisill; the Limestone College Chorus; Marshall Brothers and High Road; and Ashley and Devin Matthews.
Shuttle van service by YVEDDI will be available starting at 6:30 p.m. each night from the parking lot across the street from Rockford Baptist Church.
Before and after both programs, the “Generation Junkies” store newly located inside the village’s 1900 Post Office will be open for Christmas shopping. The business features vintage furniture and arts & crafts. Its Christmas Open Houses will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
