The Yadkin Valley United Fund has announced the recipients of its Triple C Scholarships for 2017.

David Steelman, executive director, said this is the sixth year the scholarships have been awarded to one senior each at East Wilkes, Elkin and Starmount high schools. Triple C stands for “caring” individuals who stay “committed” to giving back to the “communities” of the Yadkin Valley. Each was awarded $1,000 at their school end-of-year awards program.

Abriella Jarvis was chosen from East Wilkes High School. She is the daughter of Michelle and Jay Jarvis and plans on attending Catawba College.

Jackson Carter was chosen from Elkin High School. He is the son of Wendy Bullins and Scott Carter and plans on attending UNC Chapel Hill.

Savannah Putman was chosen from Starmount High School. She is the daughter of Kathy and Jeff Putman and plans on attending NC State.

The YVUF serves the communities of Arlington, Elkin, Jonesville, Mountain Park, Ronda, State Road, Thurmond and Traphill by providing funding to 25 local non-profit agencies as well as the three scholarships. The 2018 campaign will run from Aug. 15 to Nov. 15. Additional information or online donations can be made on the YVUF website: Yadkinvalleyunitedfund.org.
