The Yadkin County commissioners made swift work of the three action items on their agenda at Monday morning’s meeting. Two garbage trucks once used by the county were declared as surplus and are to be sold through electronic auction.
A contract with Carl Rose and Sons was approved for a project to grade and pave areas at the Solid Waste facility. Also approved was a contract to maintain oxygen contained in bulk storage at the hospital facility. That contract will be transferred to the future operator of the facility.
The board will participate in an annual training with the Board of Health on Oct. 8.
A special meeting has been called by the board for 7 p.m. on Oct. 15 where they will receive the reports from Spectrum Health Partners and Criterion Healthcare. The county contracted with the two groups to prepare a series of financial models as well as a physical analysis of the hospital facility in order to determine the best options to reopen the hospital. That meeting will take place in the Commissioners’ Chambers in the Human Resources Building, located at, 217 E. Willow St. in Yadkinville.
“We believe these two studies will enable our Board of Commissioners to make sound decisions on the best and most efficient healthcare needs for our citizens for decades to come,” Chairman Kevin Austin said in a prior statement about the reports.
The next regular meeting of the board is scheduled for Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
