Altercation leads to multiple arrests, attempted murder charges

EAST BEND — On Nov. 27, Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called out to a residence in East Bend regarding an assault with serious injury.

The victim had been at a friend’s house, also in East Bend, where a fight started between several occupants there, according to sheriff’s office officials.

After an investigation, five people were arrested on Dec. 5 in relation to the case.

William Mason Norman, 17, of East Bend, and Elijah McKay Brown, 19, of Yadkinville, were each charged with misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony first-degree kidnapping. Norman was additionally charged with felony attempted first-degree murder, and Brown was additionally charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon serious injury. Norman had no bond and Brown had a $75,000 secured bond, both with court dates of Dec. 7.

McKenzie Mae Willard, 17, of Boonville, Gabrielle Ashton Hicks, 18, of Yadkinville, and Sandra Johnson Norman, 53, of East Bend, also were charged with felony conspire robbery with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor injury to personal property. They were given secured $10,000 bonds with court dates of Dec. 7.
