FALL CREEK — The cause of a fire on July 17 near Wiseman’s Crossroads on N.C. 67 has been deemed electrical, according to the Yadkin County Fire Marshal Ricky Leonard.

N.C. 67 was closed for several hours due to that fire which began around 1 p.m. The blaze completely destroyed a wooden structure that was formerly a farm supply store next to the Crossroad’s Grocery gas station and had been used as storage for the Crossroads Hardware store.

“It burned really hot, really fast. The building is a total loss,” Yadkin County Emergency Services Director Keith Vestal said. “But the fire department did a good job of saving the surrounding structures. There’s a home nearby and the store building right beside it, plus the above ground fuel tanks for the gas station.

Fall Creek was the primary responding fire department. Boonville, East Bend and Yadkinville fire departments also assisted. The State Bureau of Investigation also assisted the fire marshal’s office with the investigation.
