A Yadkinville man was arrested on July 8 for allegedly stealing checks and a firearm belonging to his family members.
Garrett Matthew Blevins, 23, was charged with one count felony larceny of a firearm as well as felony possession of a fire arm, felony uttering a forged instrument and misdemeanor larceny. Also arrested on July 13 was Sandy Lee Matthews, 23, of East Bend. She was charged with one felony county of larceny of a firearm.
According to a report from the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched to a home on Brookfield Lane in Yadkinville on July 1 in regard to a larceny. Blevins and Matthews had been staying at the residence where Blevins allegedly stole checks belonging to his grandfather. Those checks were forged and cashed at different locations by Blevins, according to the report. Matthews and Blevins also allegedly took a firearm belonging to Blevins brother. The firearm was later returned.
Blevins was given a $15,000 secured bond with a next court date of July 22. Matthews was given a secured $500 bond with a court date of July 15.
