Jonesville man charged in drug case

A Jonesville man was charged in a drug-related case following a tip from a neighboring county’s police department.

Justin Andrew Collins, 28, of Jonesville, was arrested and charged Aug. 29 with one count of felony maintain a vehicle, one count felony sell and deliver marijuana, one count of felony possession marijuana, two counts of felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and one count of felony conspire to sell and deliver marijuana.

On Aug. 29, the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Winston-Salem Police Department of a subject who was traveling into Yadkin County most likely with drugs in their vehicle. The vehicle was located by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office traveling in Hamptonville towards Jonesville and was stopped for traffic violations.

After an investigation and upon checking the vehicle, five pounds of marijuana was found along with drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Collins was given a secured $20,000 bond with an initial court date of Aug. 30.
