YADKINVILLE — A haven for southern homemakers, the Nest & Hive Shoppe, will host its grand opening on Friday. The shop, located at 222 E. Main St. in Yadkinville, is owned by mother-daughter team Gloria Brown and Laura Pack.
The two have always adored all things vintage and southern and have dreamed of having a shop since Pack was in high school. The shop is all about combining well-loved antique and vintage glassware, home decor and linens with new items such as unique fragrances and soaps.
At 11:30 a.m. on Friday, representatives from the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for the ribbon cutting. There will be refreshments, door prizes and special sales.
Brown said she and her daughter have always had a vision of what their shop would be like. For many years they have collected antiques and taken note of new products that they love and think other women also would enjoy.
In each corner of the cheerily decorated and delightfully smelling shop, customers will see antique items displayed alongside new products such as soup mixes, soaps, baby gifts and more.
For Brown and Pack, they said it’s all about creating a lifestyle and not only offering items for purchase, but giving customers unique decorating and special gift ideas.
“The shop is to help them see and think about using old things with new things and how you can merge them into your home,” Brown said. “It’s a lifestyle. A vintage southern homemaker, she doesn’t just throw out the old just for the sake of getting something new, she appreciates tradition and loves the fact that we are so rich in history and heritage.”
Brown and Pack said they hope to see many familiar faces at their grand opening and meet some new friends as well. There will be sausage balls, Brown promised, a sure enticement for any southerner.
The shop will be open regularly Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit the Nest & Hive Shoppe on Facebook.
