Jonesville’s Labor Day weekend flea market and festival at Lila Swaim Park is drawing near for area vendors and bargain hunters.

The market will open Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 9 a.m. and will remain open until approximately 7 p.m. daily.

Sunday vendors may wait until 2 p.m. to open to accommodate church attenders, but lunch will be available each day with the Hot Dog Boy, Pizza Hut and Dwayne’s BBQ plates and sandwiches.

Snow cones and canned drinks will also be available throughout the weekend.

There are free vendor spaces as well. The only requirement for vendors are to register and donate one item to the Historical Society to sell in their booth.

Call 336-428-2160 to register or email jonesvillenc@gmail.com.

At 2 pm on Saturday, a forum for candidates for the Jonesville Town Council will begin. Each candidate will be asked questions and be allowed to share their interests in serving on the Jonesville Town Council.

Mayor candidates are Gene Pardue, Jerry Wood and Jennifer Kirk Dapp. Commissioner candidates are Tommy Casstevens, Anita Darnell, Andy Greene and Judy Wolfe (write-in candidate).

There will also be Pickle Ball games, organized by Frank Gaul. Gaul coordinates games at the Senior Center.

More information will be available at the Historical Society booth.

Weather and facilities permitting, children 12 and under will be able to play on the water slides, a popular activity on July 4.

The new playground equipment for children will also be open.

Proceeds from the flea market will be used to maintain the Veterans Memorial exhibit in Mineral Spring Park.
