BOONVILLE — Mckayla Johnson, Ottis Little, Hannah Horton, Kara Belcher and Cadence Conley won bicycles and other prizes in the first Boonville Elementary School Bicycle Safety Program.

The program was conducted Nov. 9 by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office and sponsored by the Boonville Business and Downtown Development Association, Inc.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Team consisting of Officer Sharon Diaz and Officer Larry Handy conducted the program.

A bicycle safety course was set up to instruct children on road safety when riding their bikes. The Boonville Business and Downtown Development Association donated two bicycles and helmets.

Sheriff Ricky Oliver and BBDDA President Tom Bastable presented the bikes.

Teresa Royall represented the Boonville Community Public Library’s new GEEK program promoting the resources available through the library.

Organizers extended a special thank you to the Boonville businesses and individuals who contributed to the program.
