Brad Storie, left, is presented the Environmental Steward award at the Hugh Hammond Bennett Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society's (HHBSWCS) awards banquet held in Raleigh on Feb. 15. Storie, a beef cattle producer in Hamptonville, received the award for being an ambassador for practicing and promoting sustainable grazing practices. His work is highlighted in the YouTube video “Winter Grazing, A Better Way To Feed.” The HHBSWCS is the North Carolina Chapter of the SWCS. Hugh Hammond Bennett was the founder and the first chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service(NRCS), formerly the Soil Conservation Service and a North Carolina native. The SWCS promotes sound conservation practices with an emphasis on agriculture. Storie was presented the award by Steve Woodruff, agronomist with NRCS and a SWCS member.
