YADKINVILLE —A Yadkinville man was charged this week with burglary and firearm theft.
Charles Anthony Ballard, 42, of 1149 Myers Road, has been charged with the burglary of an unoccupied home and theft of firearms. Detectives with the Yadkinville Police Department discovered the alleged burglary in January. The investigation revealed multiple firearms had been stolen, all of which were long guns.
After an extensive investigation, detectives successfully located the firearms outside Yadkin County where they had been traded among convicted felons, along with additional firearms stolen from an unrelated burglary outside Yadkinville.
Ballard was served warrants for felonious breaking and entering and two counts of larceny of firearms by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office. Yadkinville Police served one warrant for possession of firearms by a felon. His bond was set at $10,000 secured bond.
Ballard’s parents, Hubert Jeffery Speaks, 56 and Veronica King Speaks, 59, both of 401 Cedar St., Yadkinville, also were charged for their participation in the crime. Each was charged with two counts of felonious possession of stolen firearms and received $2,500 unsecured bonds.
This and other related investigations are still ongoing.
