A driver from Dobson was cited for allegedly failing to yield the right of way resulting in a CC Camp Road wreck with a tractor trailer late Thursday morning.
The Elkin Police Department said the incident happened at an entryway for Walmart at 11:30 a.m.
According to the police report, a 1994 Toyota passenger vehicle driven by Lonnie Gray Fulk, 85, of Dobson, was turning from Walmart and “failed to yield the right of way” to a tractor trailer, driven by Kevin Scott Johnson, 39, of Elk Creek, Va., traveling east on CC Camp Road.
In the Taco Bell parking lot was a witness who didn’t see the accident, but heard the collision. “The brakes of the truck…I heard a skid noise and then a bang,” said Buck Goldman of Dobson.
The Toyota is owned by Fulk and received an estimated $10,000 in damage. The freight truck is owned by Randolph Phipps of Independence, Va. The estimated damage of the tractor trailer is $2,000, according to the report.
