YADKINVILLE — On Monday, the Yadkin County commissioners scheduled a hearing for the public to be able to comment on the financing of the Yadkin Valley Agriculture Center project which is slated to become a part of the Yadkin Center campus of Surry Community College.
The hearing will take place at the next regularly scheduled commissioner’s meeting at 7 p.m. on June 16 in the commissioner’s chambers located in the Human Services Building at 217 E. Willow St. The board also approved a resolution required by the Local Government Commission authorizing the filing of an application for financing, stating the findings of need for the financing and authorizing staff to complete the application and obtain financing bids for the project.
A contract also was approved on Monday with Bingham Arbitrage Services to conduct a report on the 2008 and 2011 financing conducted by the county to build the two middle schools and the 5D dam. Deputy County Manager and Finance Officer Lisa Hughes explained that arbitrage reports are required when government entities borrow money and the reports will go to prove that the county did not make any money from the borrowings.
On June 12 at 7 p.m., the commissioners will hold a budget hearing to discuss the recommended 2014-2015 fiscal year budget for the county. The hearing is open to comments from Yadkin County residents.
A public meeting to discuss the new waterline to East Bend will be held at 7:30 p.m. on June 24 at Myers Auction Services, located at 6236 Old U.S. 421.
