Dwight Shook has announced his candidacy as a Republican candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives in the 73rd district. The district is made up of Alexander, Yadkin and part of Wilkes counties.
Shook said, “I believe that the best government is limited and protects individual rights such as free speech, and the right to bear arms. Education, security, and infrastructure are key components of a supportive government. We need less government intrusion into our private lives, and fewer barriers to agriculture, entrepreneurship and current businesses.
Shook cited reasons for running for office in a primary against incumbent Representative Lee Zachary.
“Mr. Zachary has not taken his job seriously. He has missed numerous committee meetings, and 120 votes on the House floor. This means that the citizens of Yadkin, Alexander and part of Wilkes counties did not have representation on these issues up for debate and vote,” Shook continued. “I vow to diligently perform my job as a representative in the North Carolina House of Representatives, and give our citizens a vote.”
Dwight Shook and his wife, Holly, live in Alexander County and have two daughters, Brandi and Elizabeth.
