Rams win one, lose one at Alleghany

SPARTA — The Starmount boys rallied from seven points down at half to defeat Alleghany, 43-38, to earn a share of the conference championship and a No. 1 conference seed Monday night.
The Starmount girls fell 43-35 as Madison Orton led Alleghany with 12 points.
Luke Shore and Gunner Cass each had 10 for the Rams as they held the Trojans to just nine second-half points. Kyler Gregory added eight for Starmount.
The win leaves the boys 14-8 overall and 11-3 in the conference. The Trojans fell to 17-5 and 11-3. Alleghany won the earlier meeting between the two teams in Boonville, 49-42.
Starmount hosts East Wilkes tonight at 6, while Alleghany hosts Elkin.
The Starmount girls fell to 0-22 and 0-14. Alleghany is now 3-19 and 2-12.
