BOONVILLE — Starmount sophomore Amber Hurst was named to the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference team, Coach Jered Markman said.

Seniors Janet Zamora and Michaela Cockerham received honorable mention.

Hurst led the Rams in scoring, knocking in seven of the team’s 17 goals this season.

“She’s one of the players every coach would want to have one their team,” Markman said. “She has a complete understanding of the game; a lot of good skills.”

Zamora will attend the University of North Carolina in the fall. “I’m really proud of her on and off the field,” Markman said. “She did a great job controlling and distributing the ball.”

Cockerham will attend High Point University this fall. “Same thing as Janet,” Markman said. “I’m proud of her on and off the field.”

Markman said both seniors are the complete packages and have intelligence to match their athletic abilities.

“They are going to the best places they can for what they want to do,” Markman added.
