OLIN — Host North Iredell raced out to a 19-6 halftime lead and then held off Forbush for a 33-17 non-conference win Friday night.
Forbush led 6-0 early, but the Raiders struck with an 82-yard run by Marquise Dukes; an 80-yard interception return by Kobe Campbell; and a 14-yard touchdown pass from Dupree Falls to Brantley Chambers to make it 19-6 at the half.
“We really played outstanding when we were fresh,” Forbush Coach Chris Johnson said. “We were in control the entire first quarter.
“Defensively, we were lights out. Offensively, things were going well.”
The Falcons dressed just 25 players. The Raiders had 37.
Johnson said his team had three drives in the first half that stalled inside the North Iredell 25. “We didn’t get anything out of it,” he said.”
Campbell scored on a added an 80-yard touchdown reception from Falls in the third quarter and the Raiders then added another when Izzy Corder ran for a 72-yard touchdown.
Johnson said North Iredell’s team speed was a big factor.
The Raiders led 33-9 after three quarters.
Brady Williard, who also had over 100 yards receiving, had a 56-yard run for the Falcons.
“We has a good game plan,” Johnson said. “Our kids executed well.
“Tyler Holden had a huge night for us. “
Holden, as did Williard, scored a touchdown for Forbush. Williard also scored on a two-point conversion.
North Iredell improved to 2-0. Forbush, 1-1, faces North Wilkes Friday night at home.
