Derrick Earl Reavis, 56, of Yadkinville passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Willowbrook Nursing Care Center.

He was born Nov. 19, 1955, in Yadkin County to the late Walter Sherrill Reavis and Lucille Vestal Strickland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Reavis. Surviving are his wife, Robin Thomas Reavis; daughter, Jennifer Reavis; grandson, Benjamin Spears; sister, Tammy (Bill) Merritt; nieces, Meagan Slovak and Ladena (Jeff) Neely.

His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at New Bethel Baptist in Winston-Salem by the Rev. Kendall Jones. Burial will follow at Center United Methodist Church with full military honors by the VFW Post 10346. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, which is serving the Reavis family.
