Dorothy “Dot” Marsh of Yadkinville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. She was 83.

She was born in Guilford County on May 1, 1927 and the daughter of the late Raymond Hartsell, and Myrtle Sentelle Hartsell Edwards. 

She attended Forbush Friends Church. She loved the beautiful flowers that she grew. And she worked for 10 years at RJR Reynolds in Winston Salem. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Glenn “Whitey” Marsh in 1992; a brother Raymond Hartsell; two sisters, Vivian Hartsell Knowles, and Edna Hartsell.

Survivors include one daughter Tammy Marsh Burr of Florida; a brother Harold “Buddy” Edwards of Greensboro; a sister Nan Edwards Braxton of Graham; a great niece Eileene Braxton who she raised as a daughter; niece Gaynell Snow of Dobson; and several other nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life service will be conducted from the Mackie-Sinclair Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 26, 2011.  Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Mackie-Sinclair Funeral Service.
