George and Shirley McCoin of Elkin will celebrate 60 years of marriage on Feb. 27, 2013.
They married in 1953. The couple celebrated with a reception at Friendship Baptist Church fellowship hall thrown by their daughter Brenda (Jeff) Combs of Cana, VA and their son Tim (Tammy) McCoin of Elkin.
The couple have four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
George worked for Chatham’s, Sunbeam, Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and Carl Rose and Sons, while Shirley worked for Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and was a homemaker.
