Three players with the last name Baity scored for Forbush in Friday night’s 8-0 varsity girls soccer win at Starmount.

Jennifer Baity, a freshman, got things started for the Falcons at the three-minute mark. She scored again later in the half, helping the Falcons build a 4-0 cushion by the break.

In the second half, older sister Jessica Baity, a junior, added two scores, while Tara Baity (no relation to the sisters) added one net.

The win lifted Forbush to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference heading into this week.

Other scorers for the Falcons included Leticia Patino and Lindsey Lineberry. Starmount dropped to 2-3-1, 1-3 MVAC with the loss.

Jessica Baity and Jennifer Baity each had an assist in the contest. Forbush outshot the Rams 19-2. Kristian Russell and Kayla Adams had one save each for Forbush.

The Falcons have been the top-ranked 2A team in the state the past few weeks, as voted on by the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association.

Forbush also beat a solid 4A program last week, taking down North Davidson 2-0. The Falcons had lost by a goal to North Davidson the previous two seasons.

Jessica Baity and Katelynd Caudle scored for the Falcons, both in the second half.

This Friday night brings a rematch with another state power. Forbush is scheduled to visit Cardinal Gibbons of Raleigh for a 7 p.m. showdown. Gibbons had been one of the top teams in 2A in recent years (beating Forbush last year 2-0 in a mid-season match-up), but the Crusaders moved into the 3A classification this school year.

Cardinal Gibbons is 2-2-2 thus far, holding a No. 9 ranking among 3A schools.

One of the Crusaders’ losses came against Swansboro (1-0), the team that beat Forbush in last season’s state title game.

Forbush will play Wilkes Central and East Wilkes next week.
