In addition to claiming the number one spot in the MVAC, Forbush also is recognized as the number two-ranked 2A team in the state. And that's not quite good enough for the Falcons.
"The strength of this team is experience," said coach Seth Davis. "There are 15 seniors, and those guys are like one big family."
The Falcons' success can be found in their overall record over the past three years. Posting a 60-5-2 record over the last three years, its no wonder the team is undefeated in the conference this year and eyeing a deep playoff dive.
Although successful as one team, the players compete in club soccer as well. The largest portion of the seniors compete for the YSA Crush, while the rest play for the Jamestown Jammers and a few other clubs.
With the playoffs coming up in the first week of November, Forbush is looking to extend its season for as long as possible. The Falcons first playoff match is at home against the #3 seed from the Catawba Valley Conference.
“It has been a fun road for my seniors, and no one on this team really wants it to end. When the playoffs start each team knows it has a maximum of six games remaining in the season. For our seniors, they understand that each game could be the last of their career here at Forbush," Davis said.
Despite the season coming to an end, Forbush continues to impress on-field. Just last week, the Falcons smashed the East Wilkes Cardinals, beating them 5-0.
With the win, the Falcons move to a 14-0-1 record, and will travel to Elkin today to finish out the regular season.
