The North Carolina Center for missing persons issued a silver alert for 84 year-old Miles Grady Brooks on Monday morning. Brooks lives in Jonesville and he had left home on Sunday saying he was going to work. No one had seen him since.

“The hardest thing is just waiting,” said family member, Angela Key.

Brooks was last seen driving a 1993 white Cadillac with a black top. It is believed he may have been the driver that was reported driving in the wrong direction on I-77 on Sunday evening, but this has not been confirmed.

A helicopter spotted Brooks’ vehicle on Tuesday. Emergency crews immediately moved in and Brooks was taken to North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Family members stated he was stable and resting late Tuesday. They were under the impression he had crashed the car.

“I was shouting and thanking God,” said Louise Baity. “Our prayers were answered when they found him alive.”
