Letter to the Editor
Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness are God-given natural rights and the only purpose/law of government is supposed to be to protect our rights.
However, government has gotten out of control and is a forceful body. The citizens have become totally apathetic for the most part. All levels of government (officials) seem to think that our tax dollars is THEIR money. Apparently many citizens seem to believe this also. Surely they don’t go to a shopping store and hand the clerk $300 (or any amount) and say “you know what is best for me, so just put whatever you choose in my cart”.
There is certainly apathy with East Bend citizens. Most often, I am the only resident that attends the monthly commissioners meeting, but I like to know how my money is spent.
The past East Bend Town Board meeting was June 9, 2012. At a point the board was discussing the idea of purchasing an expensive item and in part commissioner Norman stated, “It’s not my money”.
Commissioner Norman is an exceptional man, he remembers, “It’s not my money.” On every issue, Commissioner Norman remembers.
Thank you Mr. Norman for using my money wisely as I have to do.
