The election in Yadkinville should be no surprise to anyone as the incumbents ran unchallenged. Mayor Hubert Gregory was reelected to a four year term, Phillip Ray Graham and Thomas (Eddie) Norman were reelected to four year terms as town commissioners.
“I want to thank the people who took the time to come out and vote,” said Mayor Gregory. “The lack of campaign advertising, in part due to the new federal regulations that require us to fill out the same amount of paperwork as a senator or congressman, may have had an effect on voter turn out. We feel like the majority of the people are satisfied with what we are doing, with the new park, our Police Department and we have one of the finest public works departments in the state for the size of our town.” Gregory said goodnight then, so he could go home and get some rest so he could work on Wednesday.
