Officers with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported breaking and entering and possible larceny March 29 at a residence in the Boonville community off North Oak Ridge Church Road.
When officers arrived atthe home, the owner said that he arrived home to find a strange vehicle in his driveway. As the home owner approached his house he saw one female in the driveway and another one running from his residence.
When officers arrived, the home owner was able to give a description of the fleeing suspects providing officers with details of the suspects clothing and vehicle. Officers with the Jonesville Police Department made a traffic stop of the vehicle matching the description of the fleeing suspects vehicle. Once officers from the Jonesville Police Department and the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office confronted the suspects they were able to make a positive match.
Vandi Wheeler Powell, 31, of Boonville and Maggie Smith Swaim, 26, of Elkin where placed under arrest. Powell is charged with breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, conspire to breaking and entering to commit felony larceny, criminal damage to property and driving while license revoked. Powell was released from the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $10,000 secure bond.
Swaim is charged with breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, conspire to breaking and entering to commit felony larceny, and criminal damage to property. Swaim was released from the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $10,000 secure bond. Both subjects are scheduled to appear in the Yadkin County District Court on April 17.
