Starmount bids farewell to Class of 2012

A life chapter will close on the lives of 167 graduating seniors at Starmount High School on June 6, and a new chapter will begin.

Graduation will be held at Peace Haven Baptist Church at 2200 Booger Swamp Road in Yadkinville at 7 p.m.

Assistant Principal Tim Samsel said that the graduating class took in a total of $1,046,720 in scholarship awards.

The class valedictorian is Brinsley Stewart. Stewart plans to go on to Catawba College where she hopes to major in secondary mathematics education and minor in Spanish. Stewart graduates with a 4.6125 GPA and was awarded $81,700 in scholarships.

The salutatorian is Taylor Spillman. Spillman also plans to attend Catawba College and hopes to major in biology. She has a GPA of 4.5625 and was awarded $65,000 in scholarships.

Tickets are required to attend graduation. Those interested in obtaining tickets should contact the school at 468-2891.
