Fall foliage, art, craft demonstrations, festival food vendors, live music alternating between two stages, Yadkin “Idol” competition and a juried art exhibit, “Eye of the Artist” highlight this year’s Yadkin Valley Harvest Festival planned for Saturday, Sept. 15 in downtown Yadkinville.
Three streets will be closed to vehicles to provide easy access to the vendor avenues and to the landmark Yadkin Cultural Arts Center. New this year will be guided theater tours of the Willingham Theater, set to open in the Cultural Center on November 9th.
Dubbed the “Granddaddy of Festivals in the Yadkin Valley” the festival is a fall classic that’s been hosted by the Yadkin Arts Council for 36 years and now sees 10,000 attendees. Festival hours are 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Festival-goers can also watch artists at work in the YARD working artist studios on the Cultural Center plaza, enjoy traditional festival food such as cornbread, beans and greens and the popular potato twirls and fresh-squeezed lemonade, pick up a peck of vegetables at the farmers market, watch weavers craft baskets and quilt-makers demonstrating their skills.
The popular giant inflatables are back again for the kids as well as a children’s craft tent, petting zoo and storytelling by Vicky Town. During the festival YARD artist Jody Pounds will unveil a 19’ wall mosaic she created for the front wall of the library.
The Yadkin Valley Harvest Festival is free and open to all ages. Attendees are urged to bring canned food to the Yadkin Christian Ministries food tent.

The Yadkin Arts Council is a 501©3 organization founded in 1975 to enrich the lives of Yadkin County citizens through the arts. The Yadkin Cultural Arts Center opened the day of the Harvest Festival, September 2010. The Center provides a gathering space for the community, classrooms for art programs, an exhibition gallery, the YARD working artist studios, the Third Branch Café, and an outdoor stroll way.
