The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office has taken two men into custody for trafficking methamphetamine.
Officers arrested Armando Rodriguez Rios, 37, of Burlington and Hugo Alberto Ayala Madrigal, 36, of Reidsville.
The arrests come as a result of an ongoing investigation since August 2011. The sheriff’s office along with the Yadkin Valley Drug Task Force and the Yadkinville Police Department have been assisting several agencies with the investigation. Special agents with the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the North Carolina Special Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office were also involved in the investigation.
The sheriff’s office states that this is just another example how drug traffickers have no boundaries. The sheriff’s office works with local, state and federal agencies in order to aid in the investigation of drug traffickers.
“It takes a joint effort and a positive attitude of all the agents working together to combat drug trafficking in Yadkin County,” Sheriff Ricky Oliver said.
The sheriff’s office states the investigation is ongoing and expects more arrests to follow.
Rios is charged with conspiring to traffic in methamphetamine by possession and conspiring to traffic in methamphetamine by transportation. Rios is being held in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $1 million secure bond.
Ayala is charged with conspiring to traffic in methamphetamine by possession and conspiring to traffic in methamphetamine by transportation. Ayala is being held in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $1 million secure bond.
Both men have a court date of April 17 in Yadkin County District Court.
