Yadkin County Farm Bureau over the course of the last year has spent some time recognizing three members of the 6,000-member organization for their dedication and leadership to the organization.

All have served as members of the county board of directors and have all retired their post on the county board.

Roy Steelman served on the board of directors for 46 years, he retired from the county board in 2010. Steelman also served as president from 1972-1986.

Junior Matthews served on the board of directors 36 years. He retired from the county board in 2010

Monroe Hodge served on the board of directors for 22 years. He retired from the county board in 2011.

“All three men have exemplified leadership and been pillars of the community and county in their positions with Farm Bureau,” said Justin Somers, President of Yadkin County Farm Bureau. “I personally thank them for their selfless dedication to the community and to Farm Bureau. It is through their leadership and many others like them that make this a great county to live in and Farm Bureau the great organization that it is.”

Steelman, Matthews and Hodge have spent their lifetimes farming in Yadkin County.

WorkForce Carolina has reopened in Elkin.

Mike Brannock, Vice President and CFO of WorkForce Carolina, announced the opening of the branch office at 1459 North Bridge St., Elkin.

“We look forward to expanding our employee base and serving new and long-term Elkin clients,” said Brannock.

Angel Haynes has been appointed the branch manager of the Elkin division.

“Industrial, clerical, we’re here to service the people of Surry and the residents of Elkin. We are a full-service staffing company,” said Haynes.

Haynes has been with Workforce Carolina for eleven years.

Haynes stated that the Elkin office will work in collaboration with their Yadkin County, and the new office in Elkin is part of a larger vision.
