Boonville’s Stepping Out event will take place in downtown Boonville beside Boonville Flower and Décor on May 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is free to attend.

The town will celebrate the end of its STEP program and the accomplishments it has achieved so far with a neighborhood block party featuring free food, a live band, some free Boonville goodies to take home and the unveiling of the town’s new kiosk.
The event will take place in downtown Boonville beside Boonville Flower and Décor on May 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is free to attend.
“The dedicated group of volunteers, who have worked so tirelessly on the Small Towns Economic Prosperity (STEP) program over the past 5 years, wanted to hold this event to launch our new brand, unveil the new kiosk, share information on how far we have come in the STEP process, and generally, celebrate all things Boonville,” said Bonnie Lasky, a leader in the STEP program.
To honor their achievements the town will offer those who attend a free plastic cup and ink pen branded with the town’s new logo in a bag filled with Boonville information.
Free hot dog, chips, drink and dessert will also be provided.
During the event visitors will learn what the STEP program has been doing to improve the community and where the town till go from here. The event will also serve as the official unveiling of the new kiosk that the town has partnered with Rusty Crissman and Yadkin Valley Heritage to make possible.
The kiosk will feature a Boonville map pointing out historical landmarks and wineries nearby as well as a Yadkin Valley Heritage Corridor map and rack cards for the local businesses to advertise.
The tow n will also offer raffle tickets for a Boonville themed gift basket. T-shirts bearing the new Boonville logo will be available for purchase.
TC Montana will provide the entertainment for the event and Boonville Mayor Rusty Hunter, Lasky and others will be on hand to welcome the town and share what the STEP program has done for Boonville.
“We hope this event will inspire our local business owners and residents to promote our community and all it has to offer and become involved in the newly formed Boonville Business and Downtown Development Association, Inc,” Lasky said.
“Although we have made progress, much remains to be done. We hope everyone will be motivated to help Boonville move forward and be a thriving community at the ‘Crossroads of the Yadkin Valley’.”
Lasky said that this event is being funded through the donations of business owners and individuals in the community as well as funds earmarked for the STEP branding and marketing project.
“No Boonville taxpayer dollars are being used to fund the event,” Lasky said.
