Construction has started on the Dollar General in Hamptonville.
The newest Dollar General location will be at the intersection of Old US Hwy 421 and US Hwy 21.
The deed for the property was granted to Timothy and Donna Gough on Feb. 10. The location is 1.282 acres and cost $205,000.
The Hamptonville location will be the fifth Dollar General to set up shop in Yadkin County. Other stores are located in Boonville, East Bend, Jonesville and Yadkinville. The Boonville location just recently reopened after reconstruction from fire damages.
Dollar General is based in Goodlettsville, Tenn. and is the nation’s largest small-box discount retailer. The company has 9,500 stores in 35 states and employs 85,900 people. Dollar General claimed $13.04 billion in sales in 2010.
