PILOT MOUNTAIN - The Yadkin Stingrays swam to a fifth-place finish in the Tri-County Finals meet Saturday at the Armfield Civic Center in Pilot Mountain.

Yadkin swam to 16 individual medals en route to 542.5 team points, well behind runaway champion Chadwyck’s 927. Long Creek (724.5), Kernersville (647.5) and Armfield (642) rounded out the top five.

Noah Medwin powered his way to four gold medals to lead the Stingrays individually. Medwin finished ahead of the pack in the 18 & under 100 meter individual medley, 50 meter freestyle, 50 meter backstroke and 50 meter butterfly.

Joel Keating was the only other swimmer to capture a first-place finish, racing ahead in the 14 & under 50 meter breaststroke. Keating added a silver medal in the 100 meter individual medley 50 meter butterfly, while tacking on a bronze in the 50 meter freestyle.

Austin Doub, Gina Myers, Sarah Hayden, Jamie Beamguard and Sierra Winters round out the Stingrays’ medal winners.

Winters captured a trio of bronze medals on the afternoon in the 14 & under 50 meter breaststroke, 50 meter backstroke and 50 meter butterfly. Doub added two bronzes to Yadkin’s total with third-place finishes in the 18 & under 50 meter freestyle and the 50 meter backstroke.

Myers (12 & under 50 meter freestyle), Hayden (12 & under 50 meter breaststroke) and Beamguard (12 & under 50 meter breaststroke) all finished third in their respective events.

The Stingrays tacked on seven medals in team relays, including two more golds.

The relay team of Medwin, Doub, Kenton McCollum and Bryan Winters captured gold in the 18 & under 200 meter freestyle relay and the 200 meter team medley.

Beamguard, Jacob Kepley, Hunter Kepley and Sam Marler finished second in the 12 & under 200 meter team medley and 200 meter freestyle.

The relay team of Myers, Mackenzie Ashley and Samantha Wooten captured a bronze medal in the 12 & under 200 meter freestyle.
