The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged several suspects charged in relation to an armed robbery and kidnapping.
Chadwick Taylor Essick, 22 of Yadkinville, Nicholas Tyler Gatlin, 19 of Yadkinville, Shawn Lee Richardson, 21 of Yadkinville and Zach Joseph Crumpler, 19 of Yadkinville, were all charged in relation to the crime.
The investigation began after the sheriff’s office received a 911 call reporting a robbery at a residence on Wishon Road in Yadkin County around 2 a.m. on May 8.
The victims were reportedly held against their will which led to the kidnapping charges.
While responding to the scene, officers received a suspect vehicle description from the victims via 911. While in route, deputies saw the suspect vehicle and stopped it before the suspects had a chance to flee the scene, according to a sheriff’s office release.
Essick is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, assault, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny of a firearm. Essick is being held in the Yadkin County Jail under a $15,000 secure bond.
Gatlin is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, assault, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny of a firearm. Gatlin is being held in the Yadkin County Jail under a $15,000 secure bond.
Richardson is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. He was released on a $15,000 bond.
Crumpler was charged with a DWI. Crumpler is also under investigation, and more charges are pending. Crumpler was released on a $500 bond.
Sheriff’s office deputies are continuing the investigation and expect more charges could be issued before the investigation concludes.
